The jamun or Java plum (Syzygium cumini) is in the clove and lilly pilly genus, and the resemblance is apparent in the aroma (especially if the seed of the fruit is cracked), and the form of the fruit, which is crisp and watery when fresh.
The frozen fruit are available in Indian markets and when thawed, they are soft and sweet with a subtle clove-like perfume. The pit is rather large.
